Triple H debuted in the WWE in 1995 as the snobby, arrogant and rich 'Hunter Hearst Helmsley.' After facing the Ultimate Warrior at WrestleMania 12, Helmsley engaged in a feud with Marc Mero. After winning the Intercontinental Championship from Mero, Helmsley ended up dropping it to future rival, The Rock- then known as Rocky Maivia. Hunter was then involved in a battle with Goldust and to counteract Goldust's female manager Marlena, Helmsley brought in a female bodyguard by the name of Chyna. An immediate success, Chyna would constantly get involved in Helmsley's matches and helped him win the 1997 King of the Ring. After a series of battles with Mankind, including a Steel Cage Match at SummerSlam 1997, Helmsley and Chyna joined forces with Shawn Michaels to form the D-Generation X stable. The three run roughshod over the WWE with their lewd, controversial and cutting edge antics.
Success soon followed as Triple H (as he was now known) won the European Championship and defended it successfully at WrestleMania 14 against Owen Hart. The very next night Triple H formed a new version of DX with X-Pac and the New Age Outlaws. They then began a gangwarfare with The Nation, which was led by The Rock. The two battled in a Ladder Match at SummerSlam 1998 and it was Triple H who came out as the new Intercontinental Champion.
Triple H betrayed DX at WrestleMania 15 in his match with Kane and joined a new stable, the Corporation. With Mr. McMahon as an ally Triple H soon got a WWE Championship title shot but although he was unsuccessful at SummerSlam 1999 he won the title the next night on Raw. Defending it successfully at No Mercy 1999 against Stone Cold Steve Austin, HHH lost it to the Big Show at Survivor Series 1999. However, he regained the title just a couple of months later and successfully defended it for many months in famous matches against Mick Foley, The Rock and the Big Show. Joining forces with Mr. McMahon's daughter Stephanie, the two ran the WWE and Triple H had more power than ever.
After losing the title to The Rock in a tag team match at King of the Ring 2000, Triple H feuded with the returning Steve Austin. It was revealed that Triple H was the real mastermind in the hit-and-run incident with Austin the year before and the two engaged in a vicious war before Stone Cold had a change of heart and they teamed up against the Undertaker and Kane. In the mean time Triple H won the Intercontinental Championship again and won the World Tag Team Championship with Austin. Soon after in a tag team championship match, Hunter tore his quadriceps and had to take the rest of the year off to recover.
When he returned he quickly won the Royal Rumble and went onto Wrestlemania 18 to win the Undisputed WWE Championship. After dropping it to Hulk Hogan, Triple H became exclusive to the Raw brand in the first ever WWE Draft Lottery. Old friend Shawn Michaels was back on the scene by this point and after Triple H betrayed him, the two battled in an unsanctioned street fight at SummerSlam 2002. After Brock Lesnar took the WWE Championship to SmackDown, Raw General Manager Eric Bischoff awarded Triple H the World Heavyweight Championship, and thus became the first ever Raw champion. His feud with Michaels rumbled on and soon Triple H created a new stable, called 'Evolution' in order to continue his reign at the top of the Raw brand.
One of the members of the group, Randy Orton ended up winning the World title and Triple H threw him out of the group. He soon beat Orton for the title but another member of the group, Batista, had also set his sights on the title and soon turned his back on Triple H. The two batted at WrestleMania 21, in which Batista defeated 'The Game.' After losing a Hell in a Cell Match to Batista at Vengeance 2005, Triple H ended up feuding with the other remaining member of Evolution- Ric Flair. The two had a bloody Last Man Standing Match at Survivor Series 2005 in which HHH came out on top.
The following year, Hunter set his sight's on John Cena's WWE Championship at WrestleMania 22 but he was unsuccessful. He then lent his hand to old friend Shawn Michaels in his feud with Mr. McMahon. The two reformed D-Generaton X and defeated the McMahon's at SummerSlam 2006. In an nostalgic wave of hysteria, DX were as popular as ever and the two started to dominate the Raw brand. However, in a tag team match at New Years Revolution 2007, 'The Game' again suffered a torn quadricep and had to take a few months off.
He returned to take on King Booker at SummerSlam 2007 as he believed he was the real 'King of Kings.' At No Mercy 2007 he won and lost the WWE Championship in an historic night and then won a title shot by winning the Raw Elimination Chamber Match at No Way Out 2008. At WrestleMania 24, Hunter lost but won the WWE Championship the following month at Backlash 2008. Triple H was now a 12 time World Champion and proved his mettle as champion by turning down the challenges of Randy Orton at Judgment Day 2008, John Cena at Night of Champions 2008 and The Great Khali at SummerSlam 2008. At Unforgiven 2008 he somehow managed to come out still champion despite having four other superstars to contend with. Now exclusive to the SmackDown brand 'The Game' has a whole bunch of young and hungry superstars looking to knock him off his perch and he will need to be on top form in order to continue his dominant reign as champion.
