I got the honor of seeing ECW/SmackDown/Superstars (one match) live in person and as a live event it was very fun to watch, as far as the DVD goes, it was also enjoyable to watch, however I didn't see the raw show live but as a stand alone show it was also quite good. As far as this DVD goes-it is quite an enjoyable collection of shows and there are some very good matches in them, but there are also some bad ones.
With that being said I will give a full non-spoiler review for WWE Live in the UK April 2009

Raw
Overall I thought Raw was actually quite good, there were some very good matches and this show was quite exciting, it also got people ready for Backlash 2009 (though obviously a year later that may not mean much).

Segment: Chris Jericho/Ricky The Dragon Steamboat/John Cena-An OK segment to open the show, as usual Chris Jericho was very entertaining, essentially this was just a way to set up matches and worked well but I felt it went on for too long and is quite pointless to watch now.

Chavo Guerrero VS Batista: N/A-Not really a match as it was so quick, for what it was though it was fairly funny

Kane VS CM Punk: 7/10-An enjoyable match, featured some good back and forth action and was quite fast paced and featured lots of action. Good stuff

Segment: Santino Marrela/Beth Phoenix-Terrible segment, not funny just annoying, I am truly glad the horrible Santina stuff is over.

Women's Championship Match: Melina VS Beth Phoenix: 7/10-Very fun match from two of WWE's best Diva's, this match is clear proof that WWE can make a good women's match if they want.

John Cena VS Chris Jericho: 9/10-Excellent match, these two did brilliant things and gave a very exciting and action packed match and featured a great ending, this is probably the best match on the DVD set

Rey Mysterio VS The Big Show: 5/10-OK match, just very short and it made Rey look very week which is annoying

No DQ match: Triple H VS Randy Orton: 8/10-People say these two have bad and boring matches, well this match proves that they actually can have a good match. They worked very well and did some brutal things against each other. Really enjoyed this match and this should have been the match they had back at wrestlemania 25.

ECW
Overall I didn't think much of this episode of ECW, it was extremely forgettable and didn't feature anything exciting, one decent match, when I saw this live I enjoyed it but even then I knew that it wasn't much on TV.

Segment: Finlay/Hornswoggle/Tyson Kidd/Natalya-Not funny at all, it was just annoying

Hornswoggle VS Natalya: 1/10-Not a funny match, it was just stupid

Evan Bourne VS Paul Burchil: 6/10-Not actually a bad match at all, it was just a bit boring at times, it did feature some exciting moments but overall I felt that it dragged on a bit

Vladimir Kozlov VS Frankie Sloan: 0/10-This was a squash match, and it wasn't good at all, it didn't make Kozlov look good-it was just further proof of how boring and crap he is

Segment: Christian VS Jack Swagger contract signing for Backlash 2009: An OK contract sining and it did well to set up their match for Backlash, however watching it now is very pointless.

Superstars
This episode of Superstars was actually quite good, I only saw the ECW match live in attendance and of course being there live made it fun but on DVD-not so much.

Rey Mysterio & CM Punk VS Kane & The Big Show: 7/10-This was quite a good match, it was fast paced and featured some good team work mechanics. Quite enjoyable.

Finlay & Hornswoggle VS Tyson Kidd & Natalya: 4/10-It was very short which I suppose is a good thing for this match, it wasn't very good but had a funny moment I'll admit that. However the ridiculous ending was so stupid and when I watched it live, I found it quite embarasing to watch.

Segment: John Cena interview: Before the interview there was a replay showing the past events of Raw which I found annoying that they included it in the DVD mostly because it already features the show! I understand that it was part of the show originally and led to the interview well, but to watch it on the DVD was annoying (and this is not the only time it happens).
As far as the interview goes, it was just John Cena talking very seriously about his forthcoming match with Edge, again it's a little pointless to watch it now.

Edge Vs Kofi Kingston: 8/10-A very enjoyable match with some very good back and forth action, made both guys look good and kept the match exciting throughout

SmackDown
This was a very good show and probably the best of the set. There were three brilliant PPV level matches in it, and of course seeing it live was just amazing for me.

Segment: Edge-Edge talking about his match with John Cena at Backlash 09, watching it live was great as I got to see Edge, but on DVD, its a bit long however it did get you excited for the match at backlash

Jeff Hardy & CM Punk VS Matt Hardy & Kane: 8/10-Great tag team match and very exciting, fast paced and full of action. Great!

The Undertaker VS The Big Show: 8/10-Another great match from these two. Worked very well together and looked brilliant to see two great power house wrestlers go mad all out against each other

Diva's Championship match: Maryse VS Gail Kim: 6/10-This match was ok, it was fairly short, which was ashame but it's still able to entertain

Chavo Guerrero VS MVP: 5/10-Average match, that's all

Batista & Shane McMahon VS Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBase: 8/10-Very good main event to a very good show. Really enjoyable match and easy to get into

Bonus
One thing I truly hate about this DVD is that they decided to include the most pointless matches as bonus features. The two bonus matches were dark matches which took place before Raw and ECW (dark matches to get the crowd ready), what seriously annoys me is that at the end of these events there were special matches that took place (Raw I believe featured a match between John Cena and Edge whilst ECW/SmackDown had Triple H Vs Randy Orton in a steal cage match-which was a very good match might I say). So why couldent they include these brilliant matches instead of these terrible matches? That really does annoy me though the DVD is redeemed slightly by the addition of the Shawn Michaels VS British Bulldog match.

Dolph Ziggler VS William Regal: 4/10-Poor match and unexciting.

R-Truth VS Umaga: 3/10-see above, except this one is a little worse.

European tour Photo Gallery: Just photos of happy fans with the wrestlers in different countries, fairly interesting

European Championship match (one Night Only, 1997): The British Bulldog VS Shawn Michaels: 9/10-As this was such a great match it makes up for the special features issue, this was really fun and featured two of wwe's greatest in a classic match

Overall this DVD set is one with very mixed emotions: Raw featured average to amazing matches, ECW was very forgettable, superstars had some good matches and smackdown was just great.
The only reason i originally brought this DVD was because I saw some shows live and wanted to watch them again as they brought back great family memories for me. However as far as this set goes its fairly enjoyable as there are some very good matches but also some very bad matches (and i mean VERY bad).
So I would say give it a try as there are some really enjoyable matches but this is not a great collection due to featuring to many crap-average matches.

I give the WWE Live in the UK April 2009 DVD a 7/10

The main reason i bought this dvd was cos i went to the smackdown/ecw but it was still a fantastic dvd!
Raw-a ppv quality show and hhh vs orton was a superb match which was just as good if not better than their wrestlemania match.
ECW- not bad bourne vs burchill was a very good match
Superstars-Better than ECW especially with the kofi vs edge match
Smackdown-Great show with 3 main event worthy matches in punk and jeff vs matt and kane,taker vs big show and legacy vs batista and shane o mac
Extras-Good lengthy extras with two decent untelevised matches,tour highlights and a brilliant match from 1997 between the british bulldog and hbk finish a magnificent and highly recommended dvd.

Watch this after WM25 and before Backlash.

RAW: 3/5 The best match is John Cena vs Chris Jericho, and the Divas match are also good between Melina and Phoenix. The worst is Kane vs CM Punk and much of the rest aren%u2019t that good either.

ECW: 3/5 The best is the contractsigning between Christian and Swagger. The worst is Hornswoggle vs Natalya but that one is fun.

SUPERSTARS: 4/5 The best match is Edge vs Kofi Kingston. Nothing really bad here. Even Hornswoggle and his tennisballs are OK.

SMACKDOWN: 4+/5 The best match is Batista & Shane vs Priceless. I know Shane is no wrestler, but this one is good. Actually all matches on Smackdown are good.

Extras: There%u2019s two matches from the tour. Regal vs Ziggler which is good and an awful match between R-Truth and Umaga. And then we have the old CLASSIC between Shawn Michaels and British Bulldog from One Night Only 97 which is the best match of the DVD, but that one we have seen before%u2026

I was at Smackdown live when it came to the o2 and i can honestly say it was the best Smackdown i had seen live. I enjoyed every match and definitly hope to get this on DVD and to see the DX invasion tour when RAW comes to the o2 arena in November

This is one of my fave 2 disc sets that i won. Its brilliant value with full episodes of Raw, Smackdown, ECW and Superstars! Plus the extras are awesome too. 4 great shows and some cool extras for that price...you would be crazy not to buy it!! Love it!

CHAVO GUERERRO VS. BATISTA:
i dont really see the point in this match but it was ok. another mediocre opener to a raw show

KANE VS. CM PUNK:
this match was actually quite entertaining. really better than their backlash match anyway. kane dominates this match.

WOMENS CHAMPIONSHIP:
BETH PHEONIX VS. MELINA:
would melina stop screaming. honestly, she does one thing and has to scream!!! ahh!!! beth pheonix makes this match. average.

JOHN CENA VS. CHRIS JERICHO:
this match could have passed of as a main event anyday! their rivalry was awesome, this match is not slow, high paced in and out of the ring. great match. Edge comes in and conchairto's cena.

REY MYSTERIO VS. BIG SHOW:
why put the high flying mysterio in with a 500 pound guy. it doesn't make sense. Rey can wrestle for about 30 minutes and still have energy, show can wrestle 10 minutes and faint. his longest match was at extreme rules i think. (it sucked!!!) anyway it was a fair match.

NO DISQUALIFICATIONS (WRESTLEMANIA RE-MATCH):
TRIPLE H VS. RANDY ORTON:
amazing match. with a mixture of amatuer wrestling, strength and weapons. garbage cans, steel chairs, steel steps and more. amazing!!!

a funny and really entertaining. watch this at 2 a.m and you will stay awake. really good.

why does vince think that kozlov is that good? he faces guys like this for a year and oh surprise surprise he's undefeated. you know who wins.

this is more like a ppv match. with amazing wrestler edge and high flyer kofi they gelled together amazingly. amzing spear by edge kofi lands on his neck (super-spear). great match. amzing main event!!! AMAZING!!

SMACKDOWN!:-

MATT HARDY & KANE VS. JEFF HARDY & CM PUNK:
this match is more of a main event than an opener. if wwe got rid of these 4 guys matches at backlash and put this in it, that would be really better. fast match. good.

BIG SHOW VS. UNDERTAKER:
takers my fav wrestler and he dominates this match. he hits a huge leg drop on show (the one you see on the dvd case). fair match.

DIVA'S CHAMPIONSHIP:
GAIL KIM VS. MARYSE:
with gail kim's quick submission holds and maryse's ehh... nothing. gail kim does all the work. plain diva match.

MVP VS. CHAVO GUERERRO:
average match.

BATISTA & SHANE MCMAHON VS. TED DIBIASE & CODY RHODES:
very good match. shane-o- forever. this rivalry was impactful, and this match was really good. not as good as RAW or SUPERSTARS main event but really good. no slow parts which is good.

Ive always got & enjoyed watching 'Live in the UK' DVDs, only cos I cant watch the shows at home, and the fact that WWE always brings amazing matches to its European counties. Although the past 2 years I am very disappointed!
A review of some of this years matches:
RAW! -
* Jerichos promo - Im personaly bored of Chris's monotone self rightous attitude. When he made his come back before Armegedon 07, he said he would never become like Orton, yet look at him now!
* Chavo vs Batista - Watch makes Chavo think he can beat a massive enraged animal like Batsta, or make it an entertaining match?
* Santino's poem to 'Santina' - We all know... so why did this stupid angle go on for soooo long?
* Beth Phoenix vs Melina (Womens Championship) - As always an amazing match between 2 great divas.
* Cena vs Jericho - Glad this rivalry has finished
* Triple H vs Randy Orton (No holds barred) - Nothing wrong with the match itself, just tired of Orton & Legacy. Since Orton has created this Legacy faction, he has not been since. Orton & the whole Raw program is not entertaining anymore, Its sheer brutality. How can Orton (& Jericho) still be aloud to pummel not only other wrestlers but also Hall of Famers and even the McMahon family?

ECW -
* Hornswagle vs Natalyer - Silly match, but entertaining!
* Kozlov vs Local Athlete - I would of thought with the size of WWE and the amount of money Vince has they wouldnt need to get in local athlete 'jobbers' in EVERY WEEK. I dont like Kozlov but he is a good fighter, why does WWE not treat him the same?

WWE Superstars - Nothing wrong, all exellent matches!

Smackdown -
* Batista & Shane McMahon vs Legacy - Why is this on Smackdown? None of them were in the draft? There all RAW stars, so why is it a Main Event on a rival show? This match should of been on Superstars!!!

Bonus -
* William Regal vs Ziggler & R-Truth vs Umaga - Both brilliant matches that showcase the stars of the future, Ziggler & R-Truth!
* Shawn Micheals vs The British Bulldog (European championship) One Night Only 1997 -
Always wondered how the (now defunct) European title was started. Also showcases 2 great Legends.

Only 2 stars from me cos the line up is a real let down. Only the WWE Superstars & the Bonus features save this DVD. Your better of getting the Backlash PPV!

The problem with Live in the UK, and indeed all DVDs featuring RAW, is that the action simply blacks out when a commercial break took place, rather than actually showing the wrestling that did occur. This is why the DVD only gets 4 stars.

The 4 shows presented here (SmackDown, RAW, Superstars and ECW) took place in the week leading into Backlash (which, incidentally, is a must-buy PPV). ECW was, as it always is, forgettable. There was absolutely nothing interesting that occured bar a contract signing between ECW Champion Jack Swagger and the Number 1 Contender, Christian.

Superstars immidiately seemed more interesting than ECW since it began airing a few months back. Being the 4th show in the week, Superstars puts together matches than don't rely on creating new rivalries during its airing, and yet still manages to further existing ones The edition on Live in the UK April 2009 features two good matches that are worth a watch: Kane & Big Show vs. CM Punk & Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio, and Edge vs. Kofi Kingston. Kofi is a talented performer who is frequently entertaining to watch, whilst it's nice to see Kane and Big Show back as a tag team against two successful, if smaller, competitors.

SmackDown features a good match between Legacy and the unstable duo of Batista and Shane McMahon, but the Undertaker vs. Big Show confrontation is not unlike their No Mercy 2008 battle. Even the ending is the same. However SmackDown was nevertheless entertaining, also pitting Jeff Hardy & CM Punk against Kane & Matt Hardy.

RAW, as per usual, was the show that featured the most talent and had the most time dedicated to building storylines. The main event saw WWE Champion Triple H try and exact revenge on the Legend Killer, Randy Orton, in a No Disqualification match. Considering how the WWE has entered the new PG Era that doesn't allow blood, low-blows or a great degree of violence with weapons, this was an excellent match. The Triple H/ Orton rivalry hasn't had a match this good since Last Man Standing at No Mercy 2007. Other matches featured Batista crushing Chavo Guerrero in his first match on RAW, and a great match between World Champion John Cena and Chris Jericho. These two consistently perform well together, and the ending to the match gave a great set-up to Backlash (again, another reason to buy that PPV).

For those buying the DVD, there are 2 main selling points: firstly, it features an excellent match between Triple H and Randy Orton that far surpassed their WrestleMania contest - it seems this is more and more frequently becoming the case... Secondly, if you're a Big Show, CM Punk or Kane fan then you're in for a treat as each competes in 3 matches over the 4 shows. Big Show is really being pushed right now and its showing in his matches.

For me, I will buy it simply for the reason that Orton got a victory over Triple H. Not since WrestleMania XXIV have I seen The Game willingly lie down for The Viper, but the fact it was actually a violent match simply adds to the surprise-factor. The 4 shows were by no means perfect, but they allowed for last-minute development of the central rivalries for Backlash and are definitly worth watching, especially for the price.

I went to Raw and it was brilliant some extradinary matches but the croud were cheering lets go randy, y2j and they annoyed me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 10/10
