Un tres bon PPV

another decent offering from 2008. the hbk vs jericho match is the show stealer in my opinion - a top match put on by two of the companies top guys. the steel cage match is another highlight, as is the taker/edge showdown (although the ending does leave something to be desired!)

probably not the best ppv in my collection but i would only watch it 1-4 times!

match 1. jbl vs john cena : absouloutley dull and lifeless! 1.5/5

match 2. john morrison & the miz vs cm punk & kane : much better and a very good build up as it shows you why they are fighting against each other a really good and enjoyable match! 4/5

match 3. chris jeicho vs (hbk) shawn michaels : agian another good match which i enjoyed very much. 4/5

match 4. beth phoenix vs melina vs mickie james : a suprise match as i normally dont enjoy the divas division but this as a previous reviewer said was "a short but sweet match" 3/5

match 5. edge vs the undertaker : an average match because of the fact that (again another reviewer said) i have seen it before. and i personally believe that they made the feud or conflict between edge and the undertaker to long. i mean come on! wrestlemania 24, backlash, judgment day, and then they even continue it to one night stand! 3/5

match 6. mvp vs jeff hardy : a predictable winner! 2.5/5

match 7. (main event) randy orton vs (hhh) triple h : a steel cage match is always one of the best matches in the wwe at this present time but i was a little dissapointed at this one as it just seemed to go on and on with them going to escape, then he will fall then the other man will try to escape then he will fall and ect! but what made it worse was the fact that it was another predictable match! 4/5

overall ppv: not my favourite so i will give it a hard earned 3/5

OK, here's the reason you buy this PPV: Shawn Michaels Vs Chris Jericho. Arguably the two best pure wrestlers in the WWE, these two put on an absolutely fantastic match, full of hot near falls, crisply executed moves and just generally great action.

Unfortunately, the rest of the PPV can't touch this match. The two main matches are HHH Vs Randy Orton in a steel cage match, and the Undertaker Vs Edge facing each other for about the millionth time.

Undertaker and Edge start slow but soon heat things up into a solid match. However, there's a feeling of "seen it all before", an accusation you could make about the entire WWE product in early 2008.

Triple H and Rany Orton have a decent, if unspectacular cage match. My main critiscism of this is that it felt like the opening stages of a classic-and then it ended. A very anticlimatic ending.

Elsewhere, there's John Cena and JBL killing the crowd dead with a horrendously boring match, Kane and CM Punk teaming up to face Miz and Morrison in a watchable match, and Jeff Hardy taking on MVP in an impromptu match, which is fairly enjoyable, if a little predictable.

Thankfully, the Women's Title triple threat is more unpredictable. Short but sweet, this also set up the fantastic Phoenix Vs Melina I Quit match at One Night Stand 2008.

Overall, Judgment Day is certainly worth picking up, simply for HBK Vs Jericho.

4 totally deserved stars. From the very first match to the Steel Cage between Triple H and Randy Orton, this PPV has been very enjoyable.
HBK vs. Y2J was an awesome match. Each Superstar put a lot on the table, making the most of every moment to try to take advantage. Fast-paced and exciting.
The Undertaker vs. Edge was surprisingly good. I mean, I already expected a lot from these Superstars, but the match was even better than I thought it would be. The outcome was not what I wanted to see, though.
Randy Orton and Triple H put up a grueling match, and I can't avoid pointing out how awesome Mr. RKO looks each and every time he's in the ring. His intensity and aggressiveness make him unique.
So, great PPV, maybe not the greatest, but the WWE did a wonderful job with the card and, most of all, the wrestlers made this PPV really exciting.

WWE Judgment Day 2008 was in Omaha, Nebraska at the Qwest Center Omaha arena which was on May 18 2008. This is the 10th Judgment Day as the event first started in 1998. The poster/DVD Cover shows Triple H in a prison but wouldn't this poster sound better if it went with No Way Out because to be honest it suits it a whole lot more

John "Bradshaw" Layfield vs John Cena

I am sick of watching these 2 wrestle the matches are slow and I got to admit Cena is a bit pathetic at wrestling but we have seen JBL & Cena battle tons of times and really it never changes. I respect Cena non other then the less for what he does because he does put effort in his job.

John Morrison and The Miz vs Kane and CM Punk - Tag team match for the WWE Tag Team Championship

I never did watch this match my reason was because John Morrison & The Miz I am not to keen on plus Kane and CM Punk is just a weird team. I couldn't see this been a decent match anyway.

Chris Jericho vs Shawn Michaels

Jericho and Michaels have had great matches from WrestleMania 19, some of there classic matches from Raw. Before the match starts it plays a video package about Shawn lying about his knee at Backlash then turning on Jericho by giving him a sweet chin music. I thought the video package was put well together of this match. The match is really entertaining and features a lot of technical wrestling it is enjoyable out of the whole event this has the best build up to this match. You also pretty much witness why Jericho turns heel which he does. But I did enjoy there match at Great American Bash more but this one is still a memorable match.

Mickie James vs Beth Phoenix vs Melina - Triple Threat match for the WWE Women's Championship

I am not one for diva matches I always did enjoy Trish or Lita's matches and a certainly loved Mickie James as a heel but the quality of womens wrestling went down hill with Mickie James turning to a babyface. Beth Phoenix plays the heel and I am not sure about Melina sort of mixed. The match is short only lasting near 5 minutes long but even for that time this is enjoyable. A highlight to this match has to be Beth Phoenix double backbreaker to both Mickie James and Melina it looked quite awesome. I am very impressed with this match it's short but very exciting best diva match I have seen in quite sometime. I would have liked to have seen this match go on a bit longer could have been interesting.

The Undertaker vs Edge Singles match for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship

The battle of Undertaker and Edge keeps going on well Undertaker beat Edge at Backlash using the chokehold I can't remember the name. On an episode of SmackDown Undertaker gets stripped of having the title for using the Illegal chokehold. The match is quite entertaining featuring quite a bit of reversals which really keep you on the edge of your seat. This is not the best match that both of these men have had possibly weaker due to the ending which I thought was disappointing because this match was going great. What I really do like about this match is commentary that Foley provides who really makes the match enjoyable and gives you plenty of background detail on both wrestlers. Vickie Guerrero makes an appearance at the end of the match saying something that the people will hate or love it's quite funny though.

Montel Vontavious Porter vs Jeff Hardy

This match wasn't originally on the Judgment Day card it was set up as Jeff Hardy returned on this event from been suspended. MVP says why hasn't he got a match on the card, etc. Matt Hardy comes out and introduces the returning Jeff Hardy. This match I found quite boring not much really did happen during the match but I think you should check out the Summerslam match it was better.

Triple H vs Randy Orton - Steel Cage match for the WWE Championship

This is the main event and the longest match of the event and to be honest this is not the best cage match but I guess it's alright. From what I remember of this match is Randy tries to get out of the cage many times but fails with Triple H dragging him back in. However for a steel cage match it is quite shocking to see no blood. The ending is quite a disappointment but the match was decent. certainly not the best steel cage match but as I said decent.

WWE have added 2 DVD features to the DVD which you shouldn't be surprised because these are short as always.

Todd Grisham interviews Jeff Hardy

This interview lasts for 30 seconds just after Jeff Hardy's match with MVP where he talks about what he lost his house and his dog due to a fire. This is quite interesting and I would have liked it to be more expanded on but 30 seconds is just to short

SmackDown %u2013 09/05/08 Chase For The Gold

Well this extra is one of the worst I have seen on a WWE DVD this is the same recap video that is shown during the promo video between Edge and Undertaker during the event. The problem is WWE could have shown the match but instead they were lazy and kept it pretty much as highlights. But what makes me wonder was why stick this on the DVD if it was featured on the Judgment Day 2008 event it's pointless. Allthough we see a part extended where the lightning strike on the World Heavyweight Championship as Edge is going over to it on the entrance ramp.

Overall

Judgment Day 2008 is a whole lot better then last years that one was awful at least this features enjoyable matches. The best matches of the event have to be Edge vs Undertaker, Jericho vs Michaels, Mickie James vs Beth Phoenix vs Melina. This may not be the best show of 2008 but it was quite decent featuring some enjoyable events. I would give it a 7/10 it is worth buying and checking it out.

Michaels vs Jericho is great.
Melina vs Beth Phoenix vs Mickie James is a great triple threat. 3 great wrestlers (most of the divas aren't).
MVP vs Jeff Hardy is also great.
Triple H vs Orton finishes this great ppv with another great match.

The other matches are all good, and even Mrs Guerrero works well in the Undertakerincident. The only thing that stops me from giving this ppv a 5-rating is that there is no outstanding match on the card.

judgment day 2008 was awesome, the best matches were HBK vs Y2J, edge vs. taker and steel cage match.

JUDGEMENT DAY 2008 is an average ppv the best matches are shawn michaels vs chris jericho and the stell cage match which are both watchable but none of the other matches really standout.

Good, I must say. The first few matches were ok, the undertaker/edge one was entertaining and the hhh/orton one was too.

Y2J-HBK match was good, but the rivalry is lasting a bit too long.

I think this is overall an entertaning dvd.

PS. the kane/cm punk v miz/john morisson was very entertaning too.
