As far as one disk sets, this is a very neat buy. It's good a good little documentary on 'early-Cena', showing you things like his schooling, his home life, that kind of thing. It's a nice little 'behind the scenes' look at the man who, many years later, has had several championships to his name. In fact, if you hate modern day Cena, I'd still give this a try because Cena 'then' isn't quite Cena 'now', and it's very easy from this disk to see why they pushed him so very much.
Whilst the retrospective is good, and the battle raps pretty amusing, the extras complement it. The matches are your usual suspects - if you want to pick 'best matches', WWE tend to pick an Eddie Guerrero match, an Undertaker match, a Kurt Angle match. You know the usual suspects - but they bring out the best in Cena. So respect is earned as far as these early showings go.
Word Life is a good buy, but because it's a one-disk wonder, it'll only satisfy as far as one-disk WWE treats do. That's not to say it's bad, because the disk is really maxed out with good stuff, but it is what it is, and the only negative I can really level at the disk is pricing - if the price seems reasonable to you, then I'd go out and buy it immediately. I'm not a particularly strong Cena fan, and I surely wasn't disappointed!

I actually got this DVD free with WWE SmackDown Vs Raw 2010. I must say, as much as I hate SuperMan Cena, this DVD is great and brings out the Rapper Cena we all loved back in 2002/2003. It has all his epic rap battles with the likes of Big Show, Kurt Angle and even Brian Kendrick! It is still hard to believe that the Cena on this DVD is a HEEL Superstar and not the Babyface he is today. This DVD is awesome and watch it if you want to relive the John Cena we all loved and wished would come back :)

Although I am a Cena Fan and like his battle raps, I think it should have been the other way round on this DVD. I think his battle raps should have been in the extras bit and the actual fights should have been the main part of the DVD
Im not really a John Cena fan to be honest but when i got this dvd years ago I found it great to watch. It was quite funny watching Cena 'Battle Rap' with the likes of Funaki and The Big Show. I quite liked it when Cena would come to the ring rapping. His Battle Rap opponents would try their best to beat him but he was just too funny. This is a great dvd with some really funny moments and a few good matches too. I reccomend this dvd definitley. Great entertainment!
Despite alot of negative reviews i really enjoyed this dvd despite not even being much of a cena fan. I thought several of the battle raps were pretty good, (including a funny segment with spanky. aka brian kendrick) some of the main feature was poor but overall it was passable at least. Theres some good extras as well especially the match against chris benoit and the segment with eddie guerrero. You can get this dvd for quite cheap so its worth looking at.

Undertaker:He Burries Them Alive has fresh competition for the worst WWE DVD on the market.Containing nothing but battle raps this DVD' has John Cena provide exclusive links to the footage, some of which are as bad as the footage that follows. Some of the raps are good:those directed at The Undertaker and held in a graveyard are risque even now,his pre WM19 rap on Heat remains his best to date and the battle rap against The Big show is very funny thanks to the comically gifted Big Show.Show delivers an excellent, although now dated, refernce towards Coby Bryant. As good as these highlights are after ten minutes at most the whole rap thing begins to grate.worse still as time goes by they get worse,by the time it reaches Cena's rap aimed at Vince McMahon you find yourself begging for Cena to stop. This DVD also contains one of the most cringe inducing moments in WWE history as Cena delivers a gushing rap about Stephanie McMahon to Stephanie McMahon.Oh and did i mention it was written by Steph herself?
Extras:Several matches including a mediocre match against Chris Benoit,a passable match against Brock Lesnar from Backlash,a good match against The Undetaker from SD!,a very good match Vs Eddie Guerrero that set up an even better match the following week and a fantastic bout against Kurt Angle at No Mercy.Cena's segment from BTWWWESVol2,which provides a little insight into Cena's early days.A funny piece from Confidential with Eddie, spelled Eddy(?) and some fluff like a photo shoot and a TV commercial round off the package
Overall: Despite the decent matches on offer in the exras the main feature is a waste of time and should be avoided unless somebody is in the market for the worlds most expensive coaster
I thought this was a good DVD to watch, whether you like, liked or dislike Cena. You have to admit that some of his earlier stuff was there for the humour rather than his ability. It kept me entertained anyway!

Compared to other superstars, John Cena just hasn't struck it lucky when it comes to DVDs (more on My Life elsewhere).
Word Life was rushed out right as Cena was starting to become a big star. Therefore, there's barely anything on this disc. A few random matches of little consequence, a few interviews and battles raps that were on TV 4-5 years ago, and some really rubbish extras (like the making of a TV ad for...some drink and a segment copied over from Before They Were Superstars 2).
If you're a Cena fan who didn't see him in 2003-2004, this might be of interest. But this DVD was poor at the time it was released, and hasn't got any better with age.
